EC-300

This product is a granular carbon/organoclay media for removal of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). EC-300 is very effective for groundwater remediation near underground storage tank (UST) sites, gasoline stations, pipeline terminals, and fuel tanks. EC-300 has performed ahead of expectation in field testing for removal of MTBE. View the EC-300 Isotherm.

Success story: EC-300 ability to remove MTBE

EC-300 is a Multi-Faceted Operating Media

  • Interaction of the chemically-enhanced properties of EC-300 attracts MTBE and other small volatile organic compounds through chemical binding.
  • EC-300 is an activated product displaying electrical bonding principles similar to activated carbon adsorption.
  • EC-300 is a hydrophobic material. Its affinity for MTBE is enhanced and water is excluded from the interaction.

Benefits

  • EC-300 removes MTBE selectively (in the proper filtration sequence), effectively, and efficiently.
  • The adsoprtion capacity of liquid phase activated carbon for typical volatile organic compound removal (BTEX, etc.) is dramatically extended when EC-300 is applied as recommended.
  • EC-300 removes tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA). Note: Data is available upon request.
  • Operating expenses associated with system media change-outs, downtime, and analysis of treated water are reduced with the use of EC-300.
  • EC-300 is accepted by regulatory agencies for treatment of MTBE-impacted groundwater.
  • Disposal of EC-300 is easy. This media is normally disposed of as a non-hazardous waste. Incineration or utilization as a fuel (high BTU value) are alternate means of disposal.
